FULL TIME INVESTIGATORS joining our Personnel Vetting and Security team to support a large federal background investigations (BI) program.
You must live in Tucson, Arizona. As a
FULL TIME BACKGROUND INVESTIGATOR , you will support a large national background investigations (BI) program that provides investigative products and services to departments and agencies of the federal government. Focused on our Nation's security, BIs are required to determine an individual's suitability for employment with the federal government, eligibility for access to classified information, assignment to or retention in positions with sensitive duties, or other designated duties requiring such investigations. The investigations often involve personal and intimate details of an individual's life and must be processed and conducted with tact and discretion. Information collected by the investigator as part of the BI is protected under the Privacy Act of 1974. In this role, a typical day will include:
- Review completed background interview documentation checking for inconsistencies, errors, omissions, falsifications and minimum requirements to ensure accuracy and completion before beginning initial candidate interview
- Conduct background investigations by interviewing employers, co-workers, neighbors, law enforcement officials, military personnel, members of the candidate's family and personal references
- Prepare detailed and complete interview statements for each person being interviewed in order to allow a reviewer to draw reasonable and logical conclusions about the prospective candidates
- Prepare documentation for inclusion into a results of investigation package organizing all investigative material in accordance with established procedures
- Prepares detailed summary of adverse information based upon objective analysis and evaluation of candidate's background, and interviewee statements, as measured against requirement standards as set forth by the FIS
WHAT YOU'LL NEED: - Associate's Degree or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience
- Minimum 5 years of background investigation experience at the state or federal level
- Open to completing an approved NTS Background Investigator course, if this requirement hasn't already been met
- Active Top Secret clearance

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $31.87 - $43.13. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
