Data Scientist joining our team to Support the Data Analysis & Visualization Development and Modeling & Optimization team
HOW A DATA SCIENTIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: - Identifies business trends and problems through complex big data analysis.
- Interprets results from multiple sources using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining independently.
- Designs, develops and implements the most valuable business solutions for the organization.
- Prepares data models and develops database to support the business solutions.
- Work on projects using a blend of disparate, numerical, textual, and image data sources to enrich curated data through statistical, algorithmic, or model-driven transformations and leverage predictive methods and create a data visualization.
- Provide analysis techniques for available data.
- Manage project timelines within a reasonable variance due to uncertainty of the individual project.
- Prepare mathematical optimization models.
- Prepare project documentation that is accurate and free of grammatical errors.
- Prepare presentations
- Develop model parameters and functions using available data
- Project timelines are met within a reasonable variance due to uncertainty of the individual project
- Able to use an Agile- or Spiral-style development model to ensure the product meets the business unit's needs with minimal rework.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED: Education :
- A degree from an accredited College/University in Statistics, Math or applicable field of services is preferred. If no relevant college degree, then an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
Required Experience :
- 3+ years of related professional experience
Required Skills & Abilities :
- Demonstrated experience in data science, statistics, or experimental psychology that focuses on certain questions to reveal information that contributes to larger findings or a conclusion
- Proficient experience in developing source code and/or scripting using SQL and/or Python (possessing both is preferred).
- Proficient communication skills, and adaptable to work in a variety of industries
- Demonstrated ability to embrace and adapt to a complex environment
Security Clearance Level :
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
- This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

The likely salary range for this position is $76,500 - $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
