Position Overview

The Office of Business Services is seeking to hire a position to perform mail room duties, including receiving incoming mail, preparing outgoing mail and operating mailroom equipment. This position also assists with special mail runs and pickups to/from locations.

Job Responsibilities

1. Utilizes a state issued vehicle to pick up incoming DHS mail from the Downtown and Street Post Offices and delivers to appropriate destination.
2. Sets up, operates and maintains a variety of non-intelligent computer drive, optic scanning inserters for highly confidential notices to customers and providers.
3. Picks up and takes Registered, Certified and Express mail to the Downtown and Cook Street Post Offices and delivers to appropriate destination, as well as taking Registered, Certified and Express mail from DHS Offices to the Cook Street Post Office for mailing.
4. Operates and processes computer generated listings, as well as official Agency distributions verifying compliance to Agency, State and Federal Regulations.
5. Maintains personal work area and ensures common areas are picked up, clean, and organized daily.
6. Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
2. Requires one (1) year of experience in the print reproduction trade.

Preferred Qualifications

1. One (1) year of experience operating a variety of high-volume mail equipment machines.
2. One (1) year of experience operating a sorting and inserting mail equipment machines.
3. One (1) year of experience in maintenance and repair of mail equipment machines.
4. One (1) year of experience following oral and written instructions.
5. One (1) year of experience working with numerical data for a public or private organization.
6. One (1) year developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.

Conditions of Employment

1. Requires the ability to lift over 50 lbs. and ability to stand for long periods of time.
2. Requires the ability to travel locally.
3. Requires the ability to operate a material handling equipment.
4. Requires a valid IL driver’s license.
