This position serves as a Midrange Unix/Linux Specialist. In this role you will work with experienced systems analysts in performing Midrange Linux/Unix computing applications and systems administration support and with senior analysts in the configuration, testing, installation, and maintenance of midrange Linux/Unix computer systems and related peripheral components following established procedures. In addition, you will perform installation and maintenance of Linux/Unix server operating systems and server hardware installations and configurations and will work on assigned projects using hardware and software systems including RS6000, Sun, HP servers, AIX, Solaris, Linux, application and database server software, Web server software and MS Office products, Windows Server operating systems, and agency desktops, laptops, and other user devices. 35% Under immediate supervision, serves as a Midrange Unix/Linux Specialist for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT):
20% Works with senior analysts in the configuration, testing, installation, and maintenance of midrange Linux/Unix computer systems and related peripheral components following established procedures:
20% Performs installation and maintenance of Linux/Unix server operating systems and server hardware installations and configurations:
10% Works on assigned projects using hardware and software systems including AIX, Linux, application and database server software, Web server software and MS Office products, Windows Server operating systems, and agency desktops, laptops, and other user devices.
10% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field:
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
